Galapagos cruises - Angelique yacht - day by day itinerary

Sample Galapagos cruise itinerary

Day 1
Thursday:
Baltra - Bachas
Welcome at Baltra Airport! New arrivals are greeted by your guide and transfered to our yacht the Angelique. During lunch  he/she will introduce you to the islands and specifically the flora and fauna you will encounter at our first destination, Las Bachas Beach.

On the sandy white beaches of Las Bachas we will get a close look at a sea turtle nesting area and a lake frequented by leggy pink flamingos and other migratory birds. Afterward, we cool ourselves off with our first dip in the deliciously blue Pacific Ocean. As this is our first evening together, the crew will invite us to a pre-dinner cocktail on the yacht before the welcome dinner. If the night is clear, as it usually is, the stars above will bedazzle; look for the Southern Cross, the Big Dipper (turned up-side down!) and Orion.

Day 2
Bartome - Santiago Island (Sullivan bay)
Bartolome is home of the famous landmark, Pinnacle Rock. Visitors can climb almost 400 feet to a summit and enjoy the impressive panoramic view. There is also a chance to swim or snorkel and to see the rare Galapagos penguins.
Sullivan Bay
At the turn of the century a huge lava flow spilled forth and right down to the sea; today you can stroll across this black volcanic expanse admiring its time-frozen ripples, bubbles and ropes.

Day 3
Genovesa island also known as Tower
Truly a bird-watchers paradise. The volcanic seacliffs offer a prime breeding place for Frigate Birds, swallow tailed gulls, Storm Petrels, Tropic Brids and Red-footed boobies.

Disembark at El Barranco also known as Prince phillip's steps in the morning and Darwin Bay in the afternoon. Enjoy open areas where you can spot small marine iguanas, and many birds. Our first view of Galapagos volcanoes, Darwin bay is an eroded crater under water, nearby is the white coral beach where will find many birds, opuntia cacti forests and mangroves. Time is allowed for swimming and snorkeling.

Day 4
Santa Cruz island - Charles Darwin Station - Highlands
Visit the world-famous Charles Darwin Station, a non-profit institution that dedicates itself to studying and protecting Galapagos wildlife. This is one of the best places to see land tortoises, including Lonely George, the last survivor of his subspecies. We will also visit the station's Tortoise Rearing Center.

In the afternoon enjoy a trip to the highlands to view enormous pit craters, lava tunnles and the giant toroises, roaming freely.

Day 5
Floreana Island
Punta Cormorant: more than 50 volcanic cones in an 80 mile area, pink flamingos, clear water and interesting coral growths make this a perfect spot for snorkeling.
Post office Bay, where 18th cetury whalers used a barrel as an unofficial mail drop, this custom continues today.

The southernmost island and the only nesting site of the Waved Albatros. At Punta Suarez, see mockingbirds, Blue-footed and Masked Boobies, Darwin Finches, Galapagos Doves and Hawks, red and green marine iguanas, sea lions and the famous blow hole.
