After much debate both political and scientific a commitee of politicians have decided to prematurely remove the Galapagos Islands from its World Heritage Sites.

This decision has cause a large debate with th escietific community since it was their recommendation that the islands should keep their protective status. That very recommendation came during April after a group of scientist visited the archipelago and in their investigation found concerns for the preservation of the species. Issues that rose concerns for environmental disaster were immigration, overfishing, development, and invasion of foreign species. These concerns originated in the ports of Galapagos were scientist concluded that they were not sufficiently bio-secure in preventing plant life, fungi, and even forms of diseases from being transported from the main land South America to the islands. Toni Darton, director of Britain´s Galapagos Conservation fund said "We are very concerned by this decision and its implications. It is premature. It suggests the islands are out of danger and they are not. They are still in danger, absolutely." This kind of decisions worry me as a native from Ecuador because loosing this wonder of the world affects not only our generation but the future generations to come. I want my kids and their kids to be able to travel and view these endemic species, hoping that they wont become endagered. This decision must be overturned, something must be done.
